Encouraged

The flu thus far has reminded me of 2 things: (1) I really don’t really care to ever have it again; and (2) As odd as it sounds, you do lose some weight.  I haven’t had a real meal since Sunday night and at this point, not sure when that will happen.

Anyway, I am trusting God for a healing in His time.  I know He will bring it.  I am just thankful that only 2 in our home have had to deal with this recent invasion, as opposed to all 6 of us.  Praise the Lord for that!  It does help having a wife who is an R.N. who safeguards and disinfects everything – it’s like everything is sterile, that is, everything but Randol and I.

So in the midst of a day of feeling a bit better, with less fever at least, a couple of cards came in today’s mail.  Many thanks for the prayers and well wishes – it means a great deal friends.  One of the cards, especially, was a true blessing – especially in a week full of unplanned illness.  It reminded me of how we all need to be encouraged.  In fact, there are several words and inflections of these words that tell us, in the Greek:  “to be strengthened,” “to be uplifted,” “to be encouraged,” “to encourage,” “to edify/build up,” and “to be encouraged together.”  All in the Word of God.

εὔθυμος, ον – εὐψυχέω – οἰκοδομέω – οἰκοδομή, ῆς – παραμυθέομαι – συμπαρακαλέομαι

Let us all be an encouragement to one another.  I love this passage, from Romans 15:4-6:  “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.  May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

May God bless you…and may you be truly encouraged.
