National Back to Church Sunday – September 16, 2012
“Hey, how would you like to go to church with me on Sunday, September 16th?”
Studies show that 82% of unchurched people would attend church if someone invited them! There seems to be a simply solution to that: invite! Yet, fewer than 2% of Christians ever invite an unchurched person to come to church!
Bridgeway is joining the National Back to Church Sunday movement to help “Invite America Back to Church.” The time is now, friends. No more delaying. No more postponing.
Last year, 7,600 churches from dozens of Christ-centered denominations and independent churches participated in this national movement, and together, they collectively gave out millions of invitations for people to join them in church. This year, for the 2nd year in a row, Bridgeway is participating and we need your help! Let’s reach out to our friends, family and neighbors in a loving, warm, Christ-focused way. Did you know that most people who have dropped out of church haven’t lost their faith in God—they simply fell out of the habit of going to church? Some moved, had a change in life circumstances, or had a falling out with their former church and simply drifted away. Most often, life just became too busy. Not a good excuse, to be too busy for God and His people, but this year, we can offer the invitation and encourage them to come with us. Many of them could be open to returning.
We encourage you to step out in faith and invite someone to rediscover the church: the body of Christ. We are planning a special service on September 16, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. so that our new guests will feel welcome and cherished. On this particular Sunday, we will also be reopening our Worship Center – which has been down for some renovations. What an exciting time! Inviting a friend is a simple gesture that could change someone’s life, forever. You’ll be amazed at how easy it is to invite your friends and family to church with you if you just pray for them and trust God to be your guide. There is no pressure, only pleasure. No intimidation, only invitation.
We will be handing out invitations for you to deliver to your friends and family once again this Sunday, September 9th – a full week ahead. Additionally, we are asking you and your family to join us this Sunday as we begin the journey and plant seed. We are trusting that God is going to grow it, in expectancy.
