If you’ve been active online for any period of time, you know that at some point, there is going to be some issues. Here is but a sampling of things you may have run into or are facing right now:
- The blue “death” screen.
- Constant notices and ads.
- Someone hacked your email, your Facebook, your website.
- Massive amounts of spam is coming in.
- Identity theft (which is on the rise).
In just being on the internet, things will happen ~ whether it’s accidental or targeted. One way we help to prevent these things is to invest in, purchase, and run software and security programs that can deter and stop us from losing data, taking down a hard drive, and compromising secure personal information. Firewalls, ad and spyware, and regular back-ups help us prevent the worst situations from unfolding. But the real question is: “Do you feel safe…do you feel comfortable concerning your PC, iPad, or mobile device?”
The reality is: Most people don’t.
With such sensitive information as addresses, phone #s, email contacts, and yes, banking information and family pics on your device, it can be a little unsettling. Those things, unfortunately, are hacked and robbed every day.
But here is good news: There are some things you can take to the bank and not worry about. Consider this passage of hope and promise from the Apostle Paul:
“10 Finally, receive your power from the Lord and from his mighty strength. 11 Put on all the armor that God supplies. In this way you can take a stand against the devil’s strategies. 12 This is not a wrestling match against a human opponent. We are wrestling with rulers, authorities, the powers who govern this world of darkness, and spiritual forces that control evil in the heavenly world. 13 For this reason, take up all the armor that God supplies. Then you will be able to take a stand during these evil days.[c]Once you have overcome all obstacles, you will be able to stand your ground.14 So then, take your stand! Fasten truth around your waist like a belt. Put on God’s approval as your breastplate. 15 Put on your shoes so that you are ready to spread the Good News that gives peace. 16 In addition to all these, take the Christian faith as your shield. With it you can put out all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Also take salvation as your helmet and the word of God as the sword that the Spirit supplies.18 Pray in the Spirit[d] in every situation. Use every kind of prayer and request there is. For the same reason be alert. Use every kind of effort and make every kind of request for all of God’s people” (Ephesians 6, vv.10-18).
We can stay strong, spiritually ~ in His strength and power. We do this by putting on the full armor of God. It doesn’t mean things won’t come to try and hack and rob us, it just means that with God’s armor, we are covered. It is here that we have authority in the Name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. And I will tell you this: He is true to everything He has said and done.
To God be the glory for His amazing grace!
Be blessed,
Porter
I believe God is even able to protect us on the internet:)
